Week 10 Update‼️🌸

Image
It's time for the last and final blog!! It has been 10 weeks since I started on my journey to learn Korean and it has been amazing. This week I learned some more phrases as shown and I also worked on my presentation. I don't really have any favorite phrases this week because I liked all of them. But I will share some of my top favorites. “집에 κ°€μž” = "Let's go home" “μ‰¬μ›Œ” = "It's easy" “점쉬어” = "Take some rest" “μž¬λ°Œμ–΄” = "It's fun" “λ§›μžˆκ²Œ λ“œμ„Έμš”” = "Enjoy your meal" “μ—΄μ‹νžˆ ν•΄” = "Work hard" Since this is the end of our project, I want to talk about a few things. I am so very very glad that I chose this topic because it was so worth it. I am so surprised that I am still continuing this because to be honest, I am the type of person to lose interest in something really quickly and pursue something new. I like that I am still continuing and will continue in the future because I really do care about this l...

Week 9 Update 🎈

Image
Hi again! So I have one more week left yay! Well not really because I actually enjoyed working on this project, but hey there will just be one more update so that's good. So, for this week, I learned more phrases as I had mentioned in my previous blog.Vocabulary is so important towards learning any language. The phrases I learned aren't in any particular order, they are very random. I used an account in Instagram called @imyou_korean. They have been very helpful in terms of teaching me new vocab and phrases. They also teach you how to pronounce the word or phrase which I found very helpful. There are several accounts similar to this and of course I can't list every single one. Here are a few accounts that have helped me in the past: @koreanclass101, @learnkoreantoday, @wanna_learn_korean. I needed to give them credit for helping me so far with my project. Without their help, I probably wouldn't have been able to come this far. So special thanks to them. Here are...

Week 8 Update πŸ₯‘

Image
Hi guys!! Long time no see! I haven't been able to update for a while because of many personal reasons, but I am back! In the last blog post, I learned about several new phrases and I have learned some more recently. I will talk about those in my week 9 and 10 updates. For this update, I learned about fruits because, why not. They were very easy to learn considering that many of them sound similar to their English names. The Korean names are just so cute in my opinion, I don't know why, hahaha. I remember the first word I learned to spell was “ 아볡카도 ” which stands for “ avocado ” πŸ₯‘. I was so proud that I could finally spell, and writing in another language does something to you. When I saw that I could write in Korean, I was so happy and it made me feel good about myself. It not only looks cool, but it makes you feel like an intellectual, which in my case isn't that often. Anyways, so far in my journey, I have learned a lot. I did have a significant event that happen...

Week 7 Update πŸ’

Image
So, I already posted this before, but blogger decided to delete it again for some unknown reason. I’m so annoyed because I had to reupload and retype eveything. My grandpa is actually in the hospital because he was in cardiac arrest and things are just not going great right now. I just hope he gets better but at the same time I don’t want him to suffer anymore. This is why I was really angry when I saw that this post got deleted because I don’t have the time to redo everything. So, I am currently in hospital right now typing this because I’m here almost everyday. So, this week, well last week, I learned some more common phrases. For example: “μ–Όλ§ˆμž…λ‹ˆκΉŒ” —> “How much is this?” “λ¬Ό μ£Όμ„Έμš”” —> “Water please” “이거 μ—΄κ°œ μ£Όμ„Έμš”” —> “I would like 10 of these” “μΆ”μ²œν•΄ μ£Όμ‹œκ² μ–΄μš”” —> “Do you have any recommendations?” “이거둜 ν• κ²Œμš”” —> “I would like this” “μ €κΈ°μš” μš”κΈˆμ΄ μ–Όλ§ˆμ—μš”” —> “Excuse me, what’s the fare?” 사진 μ’€ 찍어 μ£Όμ‹€λž˜μš”” —> “Could you take a picture of me please?” So last week, we each e...

Telling Time ⏱

Excuse my face (I’m really tired) but I’m back!      Okay, so how to tell time. Hoesntly it’s more complicated in Korean than in English in my opinion but it’s okay, it’s not that hard. If I practice more and more I can get the hang of it. I will explain why it’s a little complicated and different from English. First Korean has two distinct number systems: the Chinese numbers     and  the    Traditional Korean numbers. Here is a list of the Chinese numbers: - 영 or 곡 = zero - 일 = one - 이 = two - μ‚Ό = three - 사 = four - 였 = five - 윑 = six - μΉ  = seven - νŒ” = eight - ꡬ = nine - μ‹ = ten Now these are the Traditinal Korean numbers: - ν•˜λ‚˜ = one - λ‘˜ = two - μ…‹ = three - λ„· = four - λ‹€μ„― = five - μ—¬μ„― = six - 일곱 = seven - μ—¬λŸ = eight - 아홉 = nine - μ—΄ = ten Hours are said in the traditional Korean numbers while the minutes are said in the Chinese numbers. You have to add “μ‹œ” after the name of each Kor...

Basic Vocab and Conversation πŸ—£

Image
I posted two pictures so that you guys could see it better (and yes it is the same picture as my last blog, but this time you can see things more clearly.) Anyways, here are some key vocab: “λ°˜κ°€μ›Œμš”!” - Nice to meet you! “κ³ λ§ˆμ›Œμš”” - Thank you! Another way to say “Thank you” is “κ°μ‚¬ν•©λ‹ˆλ‹€” Either one is fine but “κ³ λ§ˆμ›Œμš”” is mostly used between friends or someone you know really well.  Now,   “λŒ€λ‹¨νžˆ κ°μ‚¬ν•©λ‹ˆλ‹€” means, “Thank                                                                                              you very much!”     Korean doesn’t really have a “You are welcome” unlike English, so most people would respond to ‘thank you’ or “κ³ λ§ˆμ›Œμš”” by saying “μ•„λ‹ˆμ—μš”” meaning “No! It’s alright!” the same as ‘no problem.’ People can also sa...

Week 6 Update ⚜️

Image
OMG, it is already the 6th week! Time literally flies by whenever I get projects like this. But it is okay. I have been keeping up with my things and I have learned some really key vocab words, that can be used in a basic conversation!! I decided I was going to keep a time log to help keep track of my progress, that way it is more organized. This is my time log from Thursday till Sunday: Thursday: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm Friday : 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm Saturday: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm I know I was supposed to study for 2 hours, but I couldn't because my brain was getting overworked. I can't study a subject for that long, without messing up and forgetting things. On Sunday for example, I started at 3:00 pm and ended at 5:00 pm, but I noticed that after a while, I couldn't concentrate as much and kept making mistakes. So I decided to stop and take a break. This is why I put 4:30 instead of 5 because I think the last 30 minutes, I didn't know what I wa...
